A Study about change in IKIRU CHIKARA and guidance consciousness of the university students aspiring to become primary school teachers in outdoor activity program

The purpose of the present study was to investigate the effect of outdoor activity program on the alteration of consciousness and professional growth in university students aspiring to become primary school teachers. The subjects were 37 university students who participated in a four-day outdoor activities program. The IKIRU CHIKARA scale (IKR) developed by Tachibana et al. (2003) was administered before and after program. In the same way, the alteration of consciousness and professional growth as a leader was administered before and after program. After the program, IKIRU CHIKARA was showed significant change (p<0.05). Then, the communication abilities, the cooperative relationship, the safety management abilities and consciousness as a leader increased after the program (p<0.05). The result suggested that outdoor activity program for the university students aspiring to become primary school teachers effected a change of the IKIRU CHIKARA and consciousness as leader.
