The analysis of the factors worsening the certification of long-term care insurance.

Objective: The aim of this study was to examine the factors that affect the certification change of long-term care insurance.Methods: We investigated and followed the certification of long-term care insurance in 478 people who required some assistance in daily living. They were divided into two groups as “worse” and “another.” We compared the influences of some factors between the two groups by univariate and multivariate analyses.Results: Two hundred and fifteen people were categorized as “worse” and 263 as “another.” Age, gender, dementia, muscle weakness, low vision, and malnutrition were identified as aggravating factors.Conclusions: The subjects of this study were considered to be frail people. This study also revealed that the factors of frailty, such as malnutrition, were detrimental. The results of this study suggest that the prevention or treatment of frailty should be beneficial.
