Description
On April 1, 2013, the Services and Support for People with Disabilities Act was revised as the Act for Comprehensively Supporting the Daily and Social Lives of People with Disabilities (the Comprehensive Services and Support for People with Disabilities Act). In accordance with the spirit of the act, there has been a trend toward respecting the fundamental human rights of people with disabilities, including children, to help them lead happy daily and social lives. This paper presents cases of family support services that have been provided in cooperation with the local community to ensure special school students have good standards of living. In conclusion, the paper suggests that the creation and utilization of individual family support plans by reflecting the life cycle of the whole family (which may change with the growth of their children) and the rebuilding of an ideal community-based partnership by supporters based on the accumulation of experience providing support in cooperation with the community are effective in continuously providing support for special school students for a better future.
