Regular aerobic exercise improves cardiovascular and metabolic risk factors. Adding hypoxic stimuli to aerobic exercise might be a promising approach to further improving cardiovascular function and metabolic risk factors. Here, the effects of acute and chronic hypoxic exercise on risk factors for metabolic syndrome are reviewed.
