An examination of measurement for"excessive internet use"in college students

Internet has become a necessity of life, and is frequently used in contact with friends in collegestudents. Internet has become often intervene even in entertainment. In this context,this study aimed to re-examine the method of measurement for excessive internet use, in accordancewith the problem pointed out in recent years about concepts and measurement methodsfor so called"Internet addiciton".201college students(66male,135female),answered questionnaire about excessive Internetuse and university life maladjustment that was originally created. Factor analysis(obliquerotation, promax method)for measurement of excessive Internet use were extracted three factorsof"video sharing site and online game participation","SNS browsing,""content contact",moderate correlation was also observed between the part of the factor. High reliabilityis confirmed in both configured scalePositive correlation was observed between the Internet connection time and"video sharingsite and online game participation"and"content contact", scores of male were higher than femalefor these two factors. All three factors indicated moderate positive correlation with maladaptation.Method of connection with Internet has no significant relationship to all variables.Validity about measurement and further problems were discussed.
