In the educational curriculum of physiotherapists training schools, changes in students’ attitudes toward learning, that is, changes in positive attitude toward active learning and understanding, as well as practice of education focused on such aspects, are required (as their grade advances). For the achievement of student-based learning, it is essential for teachers to encourage students to develop (or establish) a self-directed style of learning. The present study discussed how to support learning, based on the findings of educational psychology and the present situation of training schools. As a conclusion, in order to give an incentive for student-based learning, teachers of training schools should believe in students’ potentials for growth and help them realize their future image, while keeping in mind that students can contribute to society as a physiotherapist. Specifically teachers need to improve their awareness of following three aspects of education and the relationship among them: learning motivation, establishment of leaning methods, and self-efficacy all of which are essential requirements for learning support.
