||Space- and time-resolved VUV reflection spectroscopy of fused silica excited by an intense laser pulse

Spatio-temporal diagnosis of an intense-laser induced plasma on fused silica is performed by time-resolved VUV reflection spectroscopy. On the basis of the frequency-resolved optical gating analysis, the VUV waveform and the time-dependent reflectivity are derived in a spatially resolved manner. It is revealed that the excited electron density after the plasma formation depends on the spatial position within the area as small as the focal spot size of the VUV pulse.
