Efficient cellular macromolecular delivery is challenging because of the nature of plasma membranes, which restrict the uptake of macromolecules such as proteins and nucleic acids. Previously, our group designed and produced a biodegradable, rigid and fibrous artificial protein, CCPC 140, as a potential vehicle for cellular macromolecular delivery. CCPC 140 had superior cell-penetrating activity than previously reported cell-penetrating peptide, such as R8 (octa-arginine). In this study, I am going to develop artificial proteins having both superior cell-penetrating activity and ability of the endosomal escape.
