A procedure to partially deposit diamond-like carbon (DLC) thin films using a mask on a poly(dimethylsiloxane) (PDMS) substrate was developed, and using the substrates with the DLC thin film deposited star-shaped areas, C2C12 cells were cultured. As the results, it was found that the cells selectively aggregated on the star-shape areas with concavo-convex microstructures.
