This research clarifies the body action in the trumpet and flute playing based on the performance of professional players. In order to clarify the body action, this research investigates the facial muscle activity and the shape of oral cavity in the trumpet and flute playing. EMG(Electromyography) and MRI(Magnetic Resonance Imaging) are used in this research. The activity of measured facial muscles tends to get higher with the pitch of tone. Hence, as a result, in order to be able to blow higher tone, players are required to reduce the muscle activity in low- and middle-tone ranges. Moreover, players are required to put their tongue to lower position and increase the volume of oral cavity.
