This research paper presents a case-study of the introduction of a specificsoftware technology, Google Classroom, into a College course syllabus. This casestudy represents an example of an innovation successfully diffused in a foreignlanguage learning environment. The research details one potential use ofComputer Assisted Language Learning (CALL) at Niijima Gakuen JuniorCollege, hereinafter referred to as Niijima College. The success of the application of this software is judged by the experiencesand reactions of the students, and of this researcher by way of questionnaireand observations of student collaboration, peer-support, and completion ofassignments and tasks. This paper presents the first English language CALLresearch at Niijima Junior College and will hopefully lay the foundation forfuture use of and development of CALL at the college. The paper adds insightinto how relatively cheap and easily accessible computer software can beadopted at the tertiary level for localized and appropriate student-centeredlearning. A notable outcome of this potential adoption is the successful diffusionof the technology, namely Google Classroom. The paper will use the recordedobservations and results from this paper to plan and implement the same course for the 2017 Spring Semester, planning and design more appropriateclass-specific Google Classroom applications for better student learningexperiences.
