The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between the work ethic and sense of well-being, and to clarifywhat kind of work ethic leads to well-being. Survey was carried out for 161 university students. For work ethic,“ newwork motivation scale” that alter the existing scale was used. For sense of well-being, the existing“ subjective well-beingscale” was used. After we performed a factor analysis of new work motivation scale, we extracted the following seven factors:self-realization, social status, social contribution, social obligations, family filial piety, rewarding and economic improvement.The result of calculating the correlation coefficient of subjective well-being score and factor scores of each factor,significant positive correlation with self-realization, social contribution, family filial piety and rewarding was observed. Onthe other hand, significant correlation with social status, social obligations and economic improvement was not observed.
