In the last decade, big data analytics in education has been an emerging area because of the rapid progress of ICT. The analytics of educational big data has received much attention as a promising approach to improve higher education. This paper focuses on the application of analytics for higher education and IR(Institutional Research), and summarizes the history and importance of these areas. It also introduces the current situation and results of analytics and IR at Otemae University.
