"The Innovator's Dilemma" is the Christensen's main work which contains two discussions. One is the technological discussion about "The Innovator’s Dilemma" hypothesis, and another is the firm-level discussion about life and death of “Great Firms.” Regarding the latter, this study reveals that the influence of disruptive innovation has been changed depending on the strategy and the consequent business composition. And it is not necessary for the successful firms to fail uniformly. This study proposes the new hypothesis from the viewpoint of diversified firms by analyzing cases of Eastman Kodak, Fujifilm and Konica Minolta, all of which were the existing innovators at the time of replacing silver halide film cameras with digital ones.
