In this study, the current employment situation of people with developmental disorders was surveyed on the basis ofthe statistical studies conducted by the government. It is assumed that people with developmental disorder accountedfor about 8% of the disabled people at home between the ages of 18 and 64 years. People diagnosed with developmentaldisorders account for about 9% of the people certified with mental disabilities. The number of mentally handicappedemployees has been increasing, but many of them prove to be short-time workers. It is presumed that the following twofactors make it difficult to elucidate the employment situation of people with developmental disorders. When highfunction developmental disorders underlie schizophrenia or depression, the diagnosis will be more complex. In addition,no certificate has yet been officially issued for people with developmental disorders. In order to promote the employmentof those people, not only must administrative agencies take measures to support their workplace settlement, but effortsof the employers are also necessary.
