“Temple of the Sun” is one of the most intangible remaining structures in the Inca City of the Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu, which is one of the most famous world heritages.Temple of the Sun's Tower is the sole significant structure, of which granite stones are singularly damaged, in the site.Besides stones' damages, the structure suffers from becoming instable and glowing of microorganisms as many other structures.A series of study was conducted on the damages and conservation measures of this important structure, in cooperation with Peruvian government. An assumption was made that the severe damages of those stones might have been caused by some heat presumably by thunderbolt or unknown fire. Many investigations and field experiments were carried out to plan basic conservation measures, followed by making a manual for actual conservation works.
