The purpose of this study was to clarify “the reality of OJT in the school” and “the growthmechanism of middle school leaders”. The middle school leaders in elementary school (N=9)were interviewed with semi-structured interviews. The data were analyzed using the modifiedgrounded theory approach. As a result, 7 categories were generated about “the reality of OJTin school” and 4 categories were generated about “the growth of middle school leaders”. Inaddition, “school organization” and “in-service teacher training" aimed at helping teachersgrow were discussed.
