This paper shows that it is necessary to make learners to make active, interactive and deep learning in order to achieve the goal of the Period for Integrated Studies in elementary school, and that it is effective for deep learning in discussion activities to design them based on the learning through transition between personal and collective activities. Then, educational practices by Sato are explained as a case of such design and supporting system and outcome of learning activity in the practices. Many students have experienced creating knowledge structure through collaboration by refining and reconstructing. However, only some of them could rethink and understand deeply by themselves. Therefore, practical and experiential learning are necessary to instruct a student in teacher training course. It may be effective for such students to experience Sato’s practices and consider its effect for pupils, points of attention in instruction, and so on.
