This paper reports the result of conceptual study on LOX/LNG(methane) engine for WIRES#015 (WInged Reusable Sounding rocket). LNG has better characteristics for rocket fuel, i.e. longer storage, lower cost and non-toxic. In particular, when applying LNG engine for booster stage of reusable launch vehicle (RLV), the vehicle size can be smaller and fuel cost can be reduced. Therefore, we have been studying on LNG engine for RLV. As part of this study, we plan to apply LNG engine to WIRES#015 and perform flight experiment to identify the challenges of LNG engine for RLV.
