This study considers young children’s play in early childhood education based on play theories including Flow theory and Arousal−Seeking, as well as Competence/ Effectiveness motive. Information on the course of study for kindergarten was provided by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology on March 2017. According to these courses of study guidelines, the fundamental aim of kindergarten education is to educate young children by way of their environment, as before. A child’s play is considered an important aspect of learning that cultivates a foundation for the balanced development of the physical and the mental. In addition, the qualities and abilities of foundational knowledge and skills ; the ability to think ; the ability to judge ; the foundations of the ability to express ; and the attitude towards learning and humanity were showcased. Ten items that we would want to cultivate by the end of early childhood were indicated. A child’s play is a voluntary activity inspired by the inner motivation of the child. We need to recognize that their abilities are related to each other and that young children naturally develop their abilities as a result of playing. The potential educational role of play is therefore very important.
