Departmental Bulletin Paper 高等学校英語教科書における語用論的解説についての論考 : 「英語表現Ⅰ」の事例をもとに

This paper examines eight English Expression I textbooks, which are most commonly used in Japanese high schools, to see whether or to what extent they provide explicit pragmatic instructions for Japanese high school EFL learners. The result shows that none of the eight textbooks offer sufficient and appropriate pragmalinguistic/sociopragmatic information, which could deprive the learners of the opportunity to build up their communicative competence. Based on this consequence, this study proposes a better way to develop educational materials for L2 pragmatic teaching.
