This study investigates and ascertains the expectations and agendas in real situations of collaboration between student and job counseling sections in a university that is aimed at finding jobs for students. An interview survey was conducted with five counselors who work in the student counseling section of University A in the Kanto district. A qualitative analysis was conducted based on the comments they made in their interviews, and then the concepts resulting from the analysis were divided into several groups. After arranging these groups in systematic order, the following points were revealed. The collaboration was difficult largely because counselors in the job counseling section “did not continuously provide counseling for the same student”; however, it has recently been reported that even job counselors provide continuous counseling, depending on the circumstances. In the future, it will be necessary for student counselors and job counselors to get to know each other and understand each other’s tasks, by, for example, holding joint conferences, in order to decide and allocate roles between them. Finally, issues at the level of the counselor, section, and university as a whole are enumerated.
