This paper is an acoustic analysis of the rakugo story Noki-dzuke, which features the traditional Japanese story-telling entertainment Ningyou-joururi or Bunraku. In rakugo stories, one performer tells from the beginning to the end; in Noki-dzuke, in addition, the performer must tell the Bunraku story, which is a melodied narration accompanied with shamisen. The differences of the narration and other ordinary utterances are distinguished by those of the fundamental frequencies, duration times, tempos, and intensities. As the same teller, when appearing different situations, the styles of speech are different, as the results of the analysis show.
