看護系大学生の職業志向を学年毎に明らかにすることを目的として,A 看護系大学の学生239 名を対象に無記名の自記式質問紙調査を実施し,「看護という職業に何を期待し,何を重視しているのか」に関する自由回答文をテキストマイニングで分析した。その結果,各学年に共通して出現頻度の高い主要語は『患者』『コミュニケーション』『看護技術』で,臨地実習において『患者』と『コミュニケーション』がとれ『看護技術』が遂行できることは,学生の職業志向に影響を及ぼす経験になると考えられた。さらに主成分分析とクラスター分析による類型化から,1 年次生は【優しさと給料】など6 個,2 年次生は【やりがいと給料】など6 個,3 年次生は【患者の病気と命の個別性】など5 個,4 年次生は【患者・家族のニーズ】など6 個の構成概念が抽出され,1・2 年次生は自分のことを,3・4 年次生は患者のことを中心に職業志向を捉えていることなどが示唆された。
[Purpose] This study aimed to clarify the occupational orientations of nursing college students by grade. [Method] Data were collected using paper-based open-ended questionnaires from 239 nursing college students. Collected data were analyzed by grade using text mining. [Results] The results showed that the most frequently cited words used across all grades were “patient,” “communication,” and “nursing skill.” Using principal component and cluster analyses (K-Means), the data were classified into six categories (e.g., “kindness and salary”) for first-year students, six categories (e.g., “rewarding and salary”) for second-year students, five categories (e.g., “protecting patients’ lives”) for third-year students, and six categories (e.g., “satisfaction in meeting the needs of patients” ) for fourth-year students. [Discussion] The present findings demonstrated that students’ level of communication with patients and nursing skill affect their occupational orientation. Specifically, the occupational orientation of first- and second-year students reflected self-focused thinking, while that of third- and fourth-year students reflected patient-focused thinking.
