内容記述
The effect of color of foregoing problem-solving materials on performance was examined. The materials consisted of 40 words written in red color, 28 words in blue, and 24 words in black, which were to be solved , i.e. to be put into the holes in the examination. in the first author's course. The materials were shown to the participants, 138 undergraduate students (79 females and 58 males) and one female graduate student, via web-page of the course. The web-page was up-loaded a week prior to the exam. It was not announced to the participants that that was a part of experiment. Factor analytical test showed that statistically significant differences were obtained among colors of words, showing the highest % correct for red words, with second rate for blue words. Some considerations were made on discrepancy between the results of present experiment and the ones in the past. The difference in % correct between males and females were significant, but there was no significant difference in interaction between sex and colors of words. % correct among the highest, and middle and lowest performance groups were naturally significant, but the interaction between performance group and color of words was not significant. Above two findings seemed not to have been argued in the past literatures. Those findings suggested that the difference in color preference between sexes gave no influence in the effect of color in cognitive tasks, and that the color of words did not give selective influence to performance level.
