The purpose of this study is to develop the power of the writing of JSL students. When they take a class, only their BICS (Basic Interpersonal Communication Skills) are insufficient in subject learning. There is a need to strengthen the CALP (Cognitive Academic Language Proficiency), when they read the text and answer the questions. In the case of a written test, the students will have to answer the questions. Responding is easy, but a written answer is more difficult. Therefore, in order to use the smartphone voice recognition technology to assist in JSL student learning, we need to do 2 things. 1: Develop a program to recognize and relay Japanese from speech to characters. 2: Implement the “SHIRITORI” game in the student's curriculum in order to expand their vocabulary. The results revealed an increase in the JSL Students' ability to answer written questions and has opened the doors for addressing and researching further academic issues.
