||Models of PBL in Japanese medical universities

This research examines how the teaching methodology called Problem-based Learning (PBL) hasevolved in various Japanese medical universities since its first introduction into the curriculum of aJapanese medical university twenty years ago. The author has visited several Japanese medical universitiesto observe PBL tutorials and collected both quantitative and qualitative data. Presented here is asummary of the PBL models observed, the unique features that each offers, and some criticisms that needto be addressed.
