Departmental Bulletin Paper <論文>大学の英語授業におけるFocus on Form導入の試み--DictoglossによるPilot Study

[Abstract]In teaching English, one of the most popular methods has been the one called PPP (Presentation-Practice-Production). Its efficacy, however,has often been questioned. As a new alternative, the strongly recommended method is 'focus on form,' in which instruction is designed so that students can learn grammar in communicative tasks. And its typical task is 'dictogloss.' To see the effects of dictogloss, the authors of this article divided their classes into two groups: the dictogloss group and the PPP group. While taking the lessons with dictogloss and the PPP lessons respectively, students were given pre-tests, post-tests, and delayed tests. In this article, the authors attempt to compare and analyze the results of the tests.
