In this paper, I considered how Mozart was influenced by Paisiello's II barbiere di Siviglia(1972) in composing Le nozze di Figaro(1986), especially in Countess's cavatina "Porgi amor". Musical similarities between this aria and Rosina's cavatina "Giusto ciel" in Paisiello's opera have been well known, but their relationship goes beyond it. Both of the cavatinas are sung by Rosina (who appears in Figaro as the Countess) in the analogous situation which are not contained in the original French comedies by Beaumarchais. We can imagine from these cavatinas that Paisiello's inventiveness stimulated Mozart to create a new type of aria.
