The purpose of this paper is to clarify thesignificance of the citizenship education in termof schools open to the community. The citizenshipeducation is introduced by school education to letthe students play a role as a citizen in the future.For example, the activity such as a volunteer job isincluded in it. This time, the author focused on the studentswho joined the student council or the club activity inAkita Nishi high school and Yuzawa Shouhoku highschool and surveyed what they learned from thestudent council or the club activity. The studentsacquired the ability needed as a society membersuch as communication skill, problem solvingpowers, responsibility.
