The purpose of this note is to show that calculus and linear algebra taught to freshmen at the university (school of science, technology or medicine) have applications in analyzing biological, social phenomena such as epidemics of infectious diseases. Almost all contents of this note are essentially included in the author's previous notes 6,7) or existing monographs on the subject, but the author explained in detail the mathematical derivations of basic formulas, which were rather brief in 6) and 7).
