Improvement and Practice of Scientific Inquiry to Increase the Students’ Scientific Thinking ─ Focused on the Acquisition of Process Skills ─

In this study, the authors examined whether the students’ scientific thinking would increase by acquiring process skills. The improved scientific inquiry was practiced by the 2nd grade of lower secondary school science. The results were the following: (1) “The ability to draft the solution” and “the ability to give the conclusion” constituting the scientific thinking increased significantly. (2) Some process skills were not acquired by one practice by students. The future problem is to inspect whether other abilities constituting the scientific thinking will increase by acquiring process skills.
