Reexamination of the Theoretical Framework of Gerogogy

After the reconsideration of the controversy on andragogy, this paper reexamined the framework of “gerogogy”, whether this idea and framework are necessary or not. Supporters of gerogogy are in the position that older adulthood is a qualitatively unique period of human life cycle, which claims a peculiar educational approach. Dissenters to gerogogy claim that however unique characteristics of older adult learners are admitted, this does not mean special academic discipline is needed. Underlying premise to this controversy is our viewpoint toward academic discipline.
