The Effects of One Page Portfolio Assessment (OPPA) on Elementary School Students’ Qualifications and Abilities : Practical Example of the Unit “Human Birth” in Fifth Grade

The purpose of this study is to clarify the effects of One Page Portfolio Assessment (OPPA) on Elementary School Students' qualifications and abilities in science classes. The results were the following: (1)The science classes adopted OPPA have the effects in improving students' qualifications and abilities such as motivation, self-efficacy, metacognition, sense of value for the science, thinking and expressive ability. (2)However, the effects are different from the relatively high students of the self-evaluation for the science learning among the students who are not so high self-evaluation for the science learning. (3)Therefore, the development of effective OPP Sheet is necessary for the students whose self-evaluation are not so high.
