A dielectric nanorod antenna is studied at optical wavelengths using the FDTD method.Consideration is first given to a modification of a metal-insulator-metal (MIM) waveguide for feeding. To efficiently excite the dielectric nanorod, we introduce a T-shaped exciter between the nanorod and the MIM waveguide. Next, the radiation characteristics of thedielectric nanorod antenna are evaluated in free space. It is found that a high directive gain of 10 dBi is obtained.Key Words : Nanoantenna, Optical antenna, Nanorod, Surface plasmon polariton.
