A quarter-wave plate using a rectangular hole array in a metallic plate is analyzed by the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method with the periodic boundary condition.The plate acts as an efficient polarization-converter over a wide frequency range of 15.65 GHz to 18.6 GHz with a high transmittance of more than 57%. The frequency responses are also calculated for the plate using a finite rectangular-hole array.Key Words : Quarter-wave plate, Metallic plate, Rectangular hole array
