The canals were built mainly in the 18th century in France. It was necessary to go over the mountains to make a navigation. A lot of locks were built there. After then, railroads were developed quickly. The tunnel technology progressed accordingly. The trains could go to the destination directly. Later, highway could go to the destination more directly. The relationships between such geographical features and the transportation route development are discussed through indexing process.
