In this paper, the bar element of Hybrid-type Penalty Method (HPM) is developed. As displacement field, it is assumed that an independent linear displacement field for axial direction and an independent third-order displacement field for bending in each element are combined. This model has six degrees of freedom called rigid body displacement, strain and gradient of strain of center of gravity of elements. The incidental conditions on the continuity of displacement are considered using a penalty function. The solution obtained by present method is consistent with the exact solution. This element is useful when used in combination with the plane or solid element.
