A fatigue life evaluation model was roposed for torsional fatigue with static combined stress over wide range of lifetime. A total shear strain based model contains effects of change of stress-strain response and ccumulation of ratcheting strain, mean stress on crack initiation and propagation. It was shown that the model is useful for prediction of lifetimes in steels and aluminum alloy under cyclic torsion with static combined stress.
