A PROPOSAL OF FATIGUE EVALUATION METHOD FOR WIND TURBINE TOWER-FOUNDATION SYSTEM BASED ON LONG-TERM FIELD MEASUREMENT AND NON-LINEAR FE-ANALYSIS

This paper studied fatigue of wind turbine foundation. First, field measurements for existing wind turbine were carried out to investigate the vibration characteristics, and data analyses presented an importance of consideration of complicated action caused by multi-directional load. Next, fatigue analyses were conducted with constant amplitude of cyclic load with tower-foundation three-dimensional FE-model. The responses were assessed by four indexes reflecting damage of concrete. As a result, the second strain invariant of deviatoric strain tensor was identified as a suitable index to assess the fatigue limit state. Finally, the index indicated that multi-directional and variable amplitude of cyclic load made the life of foundation much shorter.
