Dynamic analyses considering impact load were conducted for both simple slab model and actual bridge model by using nonlinear FE method. On the basis of analyses of strain records of referential concrete element, strain localization around the loading area under high loading rate was clarified. Although low loading rate contributed to bending deformation mode, high loading rate led shear deformation mode for both models. Consequently, the relation between load carrying capacity and failure mode was provided from analytical results. It can be said that transition of failure mode due to impact load should be considered in design method for slabs.
