OPTICAL SEE-THROUGH HMD CALIBRATION FOR AUGMENTED REALITY AND ITS APPLICATION TO SUPPORT SOFTWARE FOR HANDWRITING CHARACTERS

Augmented Reality (AR) allows us to enhance our perception of the real world by overlaying artificial objects or information. The AR Technology has been recently applied to commercial products such as game applications and car navigation systems. On the other hand, smart glasses as one of wearable devices are recently provided b consumer electronics makers. The smart glasses allow us to connect to our real world more naturally with virtual objects by directly superimposing virtual objects on your viewing images because the have optical see-through type head-mounted displays (HMD) and a camera sensor. This paper described the HMD calibration for AR and proposed a support software for hand writing characters as its application.
