In recent years, competition in the market is becoming more intense. The life span of the product is becoming shorter and shorter, so manufacturing companies are needed to develop new product, ship it to the market and sell it quickly. Not only products of mass production but also products of make-to-order production are wanted to do same things. So make-to-order products are needed to produce and ship for prospects without orders. Even make-to-order products are used common items in many parts, so they usually have basic design part and fluctuating parts that are decided by customer. However most ofcompanies that make make-to-order products don’t approach standardization of parts, so they can’t plan production schedule before they receive orders. This paper proposes a product planning method for make-to-order production in advance. Therefore this paper separate basic design parts and fluctuatingparts to control them by part number and show production planning model. This paper also proposes effectiveness of the method thorough a simulation experiments.
