Block copolymer composed of styrene and 2-diethylaminoethyl methacrylate (DEAEMA) was prepared by a sequential living anionic polymerization of the monomers in THF at -78℃. The resulting polymer was applied for the reaction with organic acids, such as C8F17COOH and C4F9SO3H in order to introduce the ionic bond-formed perfluoroalkyl groups at PDEAEMA segment. Such perfluoroalkyl groups concentrate at the top of the film surface and then they are quantitatively removed by treatment the film sample with methanol, indicating the dissociation of their ionic bonds. Interestingly, fluorinated surface was repeatedly reformed by solvent annealing of the methanol-treated film, suggesting the surface reconstruction under environmental changes.
