High-concentration Nb-doped titanium dioxide (TiO2) powders synthesized by RF thermal plasma processing were heat-treated at various temperatures. All the powders were examined with respect to their particle morphologies, phase transformation, band gap variation and photocatalytic activity. The photocatalytic activity of the heat-treated TiO2 powders was evaluated in terms of the degradation rates of methyl orange in aqueous TiO2 suspension under visible light irradiation. 25at.% Nb-doped TiO2 powders heat-treated at 850ºC showed remarkably high photocatalytic activity.
