SURFACE RECONSTRUCTION OF AMPHIPHILIC TRIBLOCK TERPOLYMERS BEARING WITH PERFLUOROALKYL GROUPS BY ENVIRONMENTAL CHANGES

Triblock terpolymers bearing with a hydrophilic oxyethylene unit, a hydro- and oleophobic perfluoroalkyl group, and a photocrosslinkable cinnamoyl group were prepared by a sequential living anionic polymerization and quantitative functionalization reactions. Then thin polymer films were applied for the UV-irradiated photocrosslinking of the cinnamoyl groups in order to fix fluorine-cantaining segment at the top of the film surface. Contact angle and XPS measurements indicated that stabilization of the polymer film surface was successfully achieved by photocrosslinking of cinnamoyl groups. In addition, a series of tribrock terpolymers having different sequences were synthesized in order to investigate the effect of segment sequence on its surface construction.
