In this study, we generated dynamic 3D facial expressions that were obtained by a motion capture system that used actual facial motions. Starting with neutral faces, we obtained the facial motions by measuring several expressions. We obtained the 3D shapes of faces by measuring several expressions and neutral faces with a 3D range finder. We calculated an estimation matrix that transformed the facial motion parameters to the 3D shapes of the face parameters is calculated by equalizing both of them with a least squares method. Using this estimation matrix, we transformed facial motions from neutral into the generation of dynamic 3D facial expressions.
