In the present report, we focus on screw cutting performance by helical interpolate motion with a three axis control machining center. A thread mill tool is used to perform the screw cutting for JIS steel S50C and JIS hardened steel SKD61. The screw cutting is performed for various kind of pre-drilled hole workpieces. We measured the cutting forces and the cutting temperature in screw cutting. Moreover, cut screw accuracy was discussed from a view of JIS accuracy level. As a result, a screw cutting method by thread mill tool was found to be effective to create a screw in hardened steel.
