The purpose of this study was to examine the structure of teacher’s salary system through a case study on Montgomery County, Maryland and Denver County, Colorado in U.S. The major findings were as follows. First, the salary systems in Montgomery County and Denver County where a system of pay for performance is excluded are implemented based on teacher experience and teacher education levels. Second, system of pay for performance means additional reward in U.S. A system of pay for performance called ProComp in Denver County also means additional reward. The incentives are bonus and/or salary increase.
