Parental Support in Children's Education as an Addiction : Considering on The Perspective of Addiction by A. Giddens

The purpose of this article is to consider the parental support in children’s education as an “addiction” which is contained in the theory of late-modernity by A. Giddens. I focused to feature of Giddens’ discourse about “addiction” and the theory of late-modernity compare with discourses in clinical psychology. Through on the perspective of addiction in the theory of late-modernity, i argued that educational support of parents is a kind of addiction to construct and protect “ ontological security” of parental identity. Finally, this article considers the possibility of a viewpoint of the “addction” to comparative sociological analysis.
